With worldwide hits like “All About that Bass” and “Lips are Moving” taking over radio stations like Mix 93.3 for the past four years, singer Meghan Trainor has made herself a household name. Her catchy tunes can be heard in the grocery store and on the radio daily.

Now Trainor has another fun anthem-style album, “Treat Myself,” coming out in January. However she has already released five of its new tracks over the summer that are perfect for any pool party or summer drive.

According to Trainor’s Instagram, the album was supposed to be released Aug. 31. But after a busy year judging the singing competition “The Four,” getting engaged and releasing five singles the singer decided to postpone the release to January.

So far the five tracks, “NO EXCUSES,” “TREAT MYSELF,” “ALL THE WAYS,” “CAN’T DANCE,” and “LET YOU BE RIGHT,” that have been released are a continuation of Trainor’s reputation with catchy tunes that empower listeners, especially women, to feel confident in their own skin and embrace their originality. She has a true talent for writing relatable lyrics that will get stuck on repeat in listeners’ heads. In her 2017 hit “NO,” Trainor discusses mansplaining and sexism throughout the duration of a trendy, enjoyable song. Her first songs dealt a lot with her size through powerful lyrics encouraging women to feel proud and confident no matter what size jeans they wear.

One of the album’s singles released last March, “NO EXCUSES” was written to deal with sexism in the entertainment industry and was inspired by the MeToo and Time’s Up movements. Lyrics like “I don’t disrespect you/ why you disrespect me” get across a meaningful message in the middle of a fun, upbeat chorus. Trainor has really become a role model to teenagers and young girls, teaching them to be proud of themselves. She deserves all her success.

This album is really special to her because her whole family, including her fiancé, were able to participate by singing on  every song. Even her dad played the organ and piano on one of the tracks. She told People’s Jeff Nelson in an interview in March that this album consists of primarily pop-anthems that have a powerful message but also have a beat that people can dance to. There is only one ballad on the whole album, the rest are bringing back the powerful ’80s anthem vibes.

Trainor is getting back into the groove of singing after undergoing her second vocal cord hemorrhage surgery in February 2017. This new album is a great way to bounce back into the music world and is sure to have many more tunes that are constantly stuck in your head and very easy to jam in the car to everyday.
