If you haven’t heard of Marvel movies, you are essentially living under a rock, but nonetheless here are my top three Marvel movies. There are no spoilers, by the way, and all three movies are rated PG-13.

Coming in at number three is 2017’s Thor: Ragnarok. This third installment in the Thor movie series by Marvel Studios follows Thor(Chris Hemsworth) on a race to stop the all-powerful goddess of death, Hela(Cate Blanchett) from destroying his home planet, Asgard, and its civilization. Filled with action, comedy, anda bit of gladiators, Thor: Ragnarok is the perfect movie for any fan of Marvel.

I absolutely loved this movie. This is perfect for anyone who wants a light-hearted, comedy filled movie that will give you giggles throughout the whole thing. Directed by Taika Watiti, this movie is nothing like other Marvel movies, and has a completely different tone than other Thor movies. Thor as a character has evolved so much throughout the Marvel movies, starting out as an arrogant prince and turning into someone kind, regal, and humorous. This movie flips the script on what you’re expecting in a Thor movie. The jokes worked every time; the visuals for the worlds, and the magic was exceptional. On top of that, the plot was extremely well done, and even for it’s humorous parts, it had moments of seriousness and heartbreak.

The villain, Hela was a dynamic character, who had a lot of history. As someone who was near unbeatable, you truly want to root for our protagonist, and hope for the best in the end.

From heinous villains, and special appearances from other Marvel characters, to a mischievous brother, Thor: Ragnarok is an excellent movie and I recommend it highly.

For number two it is 2014’s Captain America: The Winter Soldier. Following the events of the first Avengers movie in New York, Steve Rogers, aka Captain America(Chris Evans) is struggling to adjust to modern life. After an attack on S.H.I.E.L.D., an espionage, special law enforcement and counterterrorism agency, Rogers, along with Black Widow(Scarlett Johansson) and the Falcon(Anthony Mackie) are thrown into a dangerous conspiracy that threatens the whole world.

Oh my gosh, this movie is beyond words! Roger’s character development over the course of the two hours and sixteen minutes of this movie is fantastic. Directed by the Russo brothers, this movie is filled with complexity that not many other Marvel movies have. The plot thickens and becomes more suspenseful and connected with each minute that goes by. The action and fight scenes were really well done, and well thought out, just by looking at them. I was not expecting the plot twists that were in this movie. If you want a movie that is intricate and compelling,as well as mysterious, in the way it shows characters and their backstories, then this movie is for you. This movie almost felt like a thriller, in tone, but still had that classic Marvel movie flare that lots of people love.

Captain America: The Winter Soldier is an outstanding movie, and received outstanding reviews. I will just say that at some points, the plot and the little subplots throughout can get confusing, and jumbled up, but that’s just my opinion. Overall, go watch this movie. It’s still great.

Finally, my number one favorite Marvel movie is 2012’s The Avengers, directed by Joss Whedon. When Thor’s brother, Loki(Tom Hiddleston) steals the Tesseract, an extremely powerful energy cube, Nick Fury(Samuel L. Jackson), the director of S.H.I.E.L.D, the Avengers, which include Iron Man(Robert Downey Jr.), Captain America, the Hulk(Mark Ruffalo), Thor, Black Widow and Hawkeye(Jeremy Renner). They must work together to stop the unprecedented threat.

This movie is so fun, and so amazing. This movie follows the classic superhero film of good versus evil, which we can all agree that everyone loves. The action and the stakes in this movie were incredible. The visuals and CGI in this movie was awesome, and felt very realistic, even though you knew they were fake. Each individual character of the Avengers is great on their own, with their own backstories, motivations and weaknesses, but all of them together, working together to take down one evil is on the next level.

Loki, as a villain, challenges the Avengers so much and in a way they need, it’s almost impossible not to hate him and like him at the same time. But at the end of the day, the Avengers have to take him down, because if not, the world will be doomed.

I loved this movie for many reasons, but it’s just that I love the plot and the story, and the way it was written. I loved all of the character arcs throughout the movie. Overall, I loved it, and you should go watch it right now with your friends, along with the other movies I mentioned.

In conclusion, those were my top three Marvel movies.
