At the 67th Grammy Awards on Feb. 2, the prestigious award of Best New Artist will be one of the highlights of the night. Fans of all nominated artists anxiously await the results, hoping to see their favorite musician win. Below are all nominees for this category, along with a description of who they are and what they did last year.
Benson Boone
American singer-songwriter Benson Boone released his debut studio album “Fireworks & Rollerblades” in April 2024. Throughout 2024, he spent his time on tour performing songs from the new album, visiting cities across North America, the United Kingdom, Europe, Australia and New Zealand.
Sabrina Carpenter
With this year’s release of critically-acclaimed “song of the summer,” “Espresso,” along with her full-length album “Short and Sweet,” pop singer Sabrina Carpenter has officially solidified her place as one of the most influential pop artists of 2024. Although she has been in the music industry for a while, having released six studio albums, she’s recently gained a large following from her newer music, which has a slightly more upbeat feel to it.
Doechii
American rapper Doechii released her highly successful mixtape, “Alligator Bites Never Heal,” in August. Last year, she was featured on highly successful artist Tyler, the Creator’s album “Chromakopia,” and her fanbase is expected to keep growing as she continues to make and perform new music in 2025. The meticulous artistry behind her recent performances has captivated fans and has helped her rise in prominence.
Khruangbin
Texan trio Khruangbin, composed of bassist Laura Lee Ochoa, guitarist Mark Speer and drummer and keyboard player DJ Johnson, released “A La Sala” April 5, 2024. The group is known to defy traditional musical genres, creating a unique style of music. Khruangbin played both weekends of the Austin City Limits music festival in October last year.
Raye
British singer-songwriter Raye is known for the jazzy, R&B tone to her music. In 2024, she appeared in numerous high-profile live performances such as Saturday Night Live in April, a headline slot at BBC Radio 1’s Big Weekend in May and as an opener for pop artist Taylor Swift for one of her shows in London in August.
Chappell Roan
Missouri-born pop artist Chappell Roan released her debut album “The Rise and Fall of a Midwest Princess” in Sept. 2023. She then spent most of 2024 rising in fame while playing festivals like Coachella and the Governors Ball Music Festival. Roan has become known for the elaborate costumes she wears onstage and her passion about various issues ranging from the LGBTQ+ community to the war in Gaza.
Shaboozey
American musician Shaboozey released his album “Where I’ve Been, Isn’t Where I’m Going” in May of 2024. He enjoyed plenty of success in the past year, with songs off his own album going viral on social media to being featured on pop icon Beyoncé’s newest album “Cowboy Carter.”
Teddy Swims
American singer Teddy Swims released his album “I’ve Tried Everything But Therapy (Part 2)” on Jan. 24 2025. He is known for his pop-country style, blending the two seemingly unrelated genres to make them his own. He was nominated for many awards in 2024, winning five of his total of 22 nominations.
