Spirit week will kick off tomorrow Sept. 17 through Sept. 21. and students and faculty may dress to the given theme for each day of the week.

The senior members of Student Council brainstormed theme ideas and discussed the possible options at their weekly meetings. After agreeing on this year’s themes, they created a video in order to announce them to the school.

“I have a notes page on my phone and I had been adding ideas since freshman year. I was always super excited about it and hoped I would be on it senior year,” senior Student Advisory Council Representative Chandler Rawson said. “Every time I saw something I wrote it down and would suggest it at meetings.”

To start off the week, the theme for Monday is called “Sion school for boys” where students can dress as high school boys for the day followed by Tuesday’s theme of camouflage. Wednesday’s theme is different music genres divided by each grade level and faculty. Freshmen will dress as country music, sophomores will dress as rap, juniors will dress as disco, seniors will dress as rock and roll and faculty will dress as the 80’s.

“I’m most excited for the music day,” student council sponsor Jenny Brown-Howerton said. “Every grade does their own thing and you see their different interpretations.”

Spirit week is an annual tradition held in the fall that is designed to unite the school in a fun way, according to Brown-Howerton. The themes are decided by the senior members of StuCo each year. Senior class president Sarah Tappan encourages everyone to participate during the week.

“You look worse if you don’t try than if you try really hard,” Tappan said. “I’ve never regretted overdressing for spirit week but I’ve always felt left out if I didn’t try that hard on a costume.”
