Arleth,
How do I have a good Valentine’s Day?
With Valentine’s Day coming up next week, it can feel frustrating seeing all the couples on Insta getting ready for the big ‘day of love.’ But it doesn’t have to be!
At its core, Valentine’s Day is actually a feast day in honor of St. Valentine, the patron saint of love, young people, and happy marriages.
Now, let’s be real, who isn’t enjoying all the pinks and reds, and hearts that show up when we associate this holiday? Pink coffee? Yes, please. Heart-shaped jewelry? Sign me up. Big teddy bears? Don’t have to tell me twice.
It is safe to say most of us correlate Valentine’s Day to a celebration of romantic love, but Valentine’s Day can be much more than that.
What about the love we hold for our parents, our siblings, our friends? If you don’t have a partner to share this Valentine’s with, why not host a Galentine’s party?
Or perhaps you can take your little sister to share the Chick-fil-A heart tray?
Maybe celebrating the 15th of February might be more your style, when all the chocolates and big teddy bears will be at a discounted rate.
Binge-watching rom-coms is a popular go-to if you just don’t feel like going out. I mean, who doesn’t love living vicariously through movie characters?
If you don’t want to see everyone posting their significant other – as they will evidently do – perhaps take a break off social media for the day.
To answer your question, Anonymous, you have a good Valentine’s by setting your mindset to enjoy this day of love.
Now, personally, I will be on Grande Ave cheering loudly at the Chiefs parade once the Chiefs bring home the Super Bowl victory.
Go Chiefs!
With Love,
Arleth Guevara
