Arleth, do you consider yourself a morning person? If so, what’s your secret for getting out of bed on time and having a productive morning? If not, how do you push through?
Personally, it takes a lot for me to get up in the mornings, but on the occasions I do wake up early and have more than enough time to get through my morning routine, I end up being way more productive throughout the day. This may be due to the fact that I am not rushing around at the last minute but rather giving myself sufficient time to eat a good breakfast, clean my room, etc.
According to board-certified physician in Internal Medicine, Dr. Rehman, M.D., multiple studies have proven that waking up early not only increases productivity but also leads to better sleep at night.
Waking up early and getting enough sleep is a tale as old as time. It has been preached to us for quite some time, but let’s be real, it’s easier said than done.
I believe the secret to becoming a morning person is simply having the right motivation. For example, if I am having breakfast with a friend on the weekend, I somehow find myself getting up earlier than I would for school just to get ready. Or perhaps Dutch Bros is doing a sticker drop, in which case I find myself enthused to wake up fairly early to get a sticker before the line gets immensely long.
I challenge you to find your motivation for waking up early. Once you’ve found it, everything else should follow. Whether that is setting alarms or leaving your clothes and bag out so you can just grab and go.
It takes roughly 2 months to form a habit, but I believe if you get your sleep schedule set based on the time you plan on waking up, then after two weeks, it should feel easier waking up.
Regardless of whether you’re a morning person or not, it can be beneficial to set some sort of morning routine to get yourself prepped and ready for the day.
Especially for you seniors, as soon we will be making our own schedules and routines in college. So why not start a good habit now where we have room for failure?
That being said, don’t be hard on yourself if you simply can’t get up early or maybe even on time. After all, we are all human.
Hopefully, though, you can find some inspiration this week to get you out of bed, or at least on time to school.
Much Love,
Arleth
