Striking Away Their Last Season
The field hockey team honors their seniors at the Senior Night game against Pembroke Hill Oct. 22 which resulted in a 3-1 loss.

Greeted with smiles, flowers and open arms from their teammates the field hockey seniors make their way down the center of the field. Their names and favorite memories of field hockey echoed from the speakers and into the crowd as the seniors smiled with their parents. The field hockey team played their last home game against Pembroke Hill for Senior Night Oct. 22 resulting in a 3-1 loss for the team.
“Senior night was very special,” junior Ruby Wright said. “Especially because we played a really good game and worked well together to make it a very good night overall.”
Senior captain Sophia Angrisano reflected on her Senior Night and said she was sad to see her last home field hockey game come to an end. She has played field hockey since her freshman year. Angrisano said she is proud of how much she has excelled and learned through field hockey.
“Senior night was more sentimental than I’d imagined,” Angrisano said. “I didn’t think much of it leading up to tonight, but when it’s happening it really hit me that this is my last game at home.”
The field hockey team will be losing four senior players—Fiona Gowin, Samantha Shively, Ava Stoltz and Angrisano—for next season. Their attitude and presence will be missed by the team, according to junior Mason Lewis.
“It will be really different without the seniors next year,” Lewis said. “We will miss seeing them on the field and at practice, but we will just have to learn to adjust.”
The sole goal for the field hockey team was by Angrisano in the first half. Though the game was a loss for the team, according to the Angrisano, it still was a close call.
“We kept the game really close,” Angrisano said. “We worked closely with each other which made the game super competitive and fun.”

The field hockey team plays Pembroke every season. Pembroke is infamous for winning, but this year the team stuck more head to head against the Pembroke Raiders, according to Lewis.
“I think we played a lot better than we have previously against Pembroke,” Lewis said. “In the past, we usually lose by six goals.”
