Storm basketball is set to go up against rival St. Teresa’s Academy Stars, Thursday Feb. 27 in the gym.

The evening will start with a tailgate in the cafeteria at 5:00 p.m. with the varsity tip-off at 7:00 p.m. The tailgate will include pizza, drinks and various activities like making headbands or halos for the theme “heaven on earth,” face painting and a Sion banner with photo props for potential fourth through eighth-grade students.

“We’ve invited as many prospective Sion girls as possible to come, as well as the new incoming eighth-graders,” director of admissions Katie Glatz said. “We are hoping they will get to meet each other and have a great night full of Sion spirit.”

This is the second game of the season against STA. The basketball team won the last game 59-48 Dec. 6 at STA. The theme for this game is “heaven on earth” and students are encouraged to wear angel attire.

“I’m excited for the game because I want to see all the work that we put into it and the energy from the crowd,” senior and scream team leader Brie Bowes said. “It’s my favorite game of the year.”

Before the game starts, basketball, dance and cheer teams will have their senior night. This includes underclassmen teammates presenting the seniors with flowers while their parents walk them into the gym. Their extracurriculars and future plans for college will be announced during their walk.

“I’m really excited that senior night is against STA because there will be a lot of people there,” senior and basketball captain Lily Henkle said. “It’ll be a good ending to the season.”
