According to Assistant Director of Athletics and Community Wellness Sarah Johnson, the idea of the seven dimensions of wellness stemmed from a course she took at the University of Saint Mary.

Assistant Director of Athletics and Community Wellness Sarah Johnson started a school sponsored blog to help students find a balance in their day to day lives.

“As the wellness coordinator for the high school, I wanted to find a way to get information out to the students and with limited time in the schedule I came up with the blog,” Johnson said.

The blog, found on the high school home page, includes seven categories for overall wellness. The categories are environmental, spiritual, social, physical, intellectual, emotional and occupational. Assistant Division Head for Student Life Fran Koehler has high hopes for the blog and future projects.

“Mrs. Johnson is coordinating wellness programs so I am confident there will be more great ideas to come,” Koehler said.

The blog will feature different contributors like faculty members, such as Koehler, adding their own content and posts to share their perspectives on life. Johnson hopes that the contributors and students continue to build on the blog and benefit from it.

“We do a great job of teaching our students from a holistic perspective of mind, body and spirit,” Johnson said. “But my hope is that the blog will help give tips, tricks, ideas or thoughts on how to be mindful of a balanced life.”

According to Johnson, the main purpose of the blog is to become a better person and be able to connect with all surroundings.

“When you are thoughtful about the seven dimensions and understand how they balance each other,” Johnson said. “You can work to create the best you.”
