Senior Betty Christianson celebrates her first week at a new school in front of the main entrance. Christianson, who transferred from St. Teresa’s Academy, made the decision to transfer in the summer.

Q: What brought you to Sion?

Betty:There were a lot of different factors that made me decide to go to Sion. Over the summer, I had kind of been considering it the whole time, but I’m not a big risk taker so I kept going back and forth on my decision for about three months leading up to when I finally decided. One thing that drew me to Sion was some friends that I have from the school. It kind of felt like a summer-long advertisement for Sion. It was kind of funny, it was like every time we would hang out they would slip in some new fun thing that I would like if I went to Sion. Obviously, it worked. Another thing that I liked about Sion when deciding whether to switch or not was the all girls aspect and the fact that it is definitely a good school overall. Lastly, one of the main aspects I could see right off the bat about Sion that I liked was the sense of the community at Sion. Everyone I knew before and had come to meet that went to Sion was so kind in a different way.

Q: Where were you before?

Betty: I went to St. Teresa’s before. Kind of a weird concept to switch from one rival to the other and to be able to see both sides of it. STA was a really great school but I didn’t find my place with the people there and I guess wanted to switch things up.

Q: What is your favorite thing about Sion so far?

Betty: So far, my favorite thing about Sion is the people. Everyone has been so welcoming. I was so scared on the first day but quickly there was nothing to be afraid of, just lots of new fun people to meet. I feel a really good sense of community and how everyone is cheering for each other and lifting each other up.

Q: What are your hobbies and extracurriculars?

Betty: One thing I spend a lot of time outside of school doing is playing soccer. I play year round which means club soccer in summer, fall, and winter and high school soccer in the spring. I also love running! Another random hobby I have is ceramics and random crafts for my room from Pinterest.

Q: What senior year tradition are you most looking forward to?

Betty:  I don’t really know a whole lot about the traditions at Sion so far, so really any of them. I do hope we get to have Prom and also hope I get to play soccer for Sion in spring.

Q: What is your favorite class so far?

Betty: I would say my favorite class so far is Internal Internships. I think it’s a new class this year and we get to do fun projects like helping design clothes for the Sion shop or help with future plans to redesign Sion classrooms. I like it because it’s not as much of a class where you memorize things and learn formulas and more of an explorative approach.
