“Star Wars: The Force Awakens” continues the saga of the well-loved story of good versus evil. Released Dec. 18 this new edition to the Star Wars family has wowed audiences everywhere. This action-packed movie has opened the door to a brand new trilogy adding Episodes VII through IX to the already six successful films.

Rey, played by Daisy Ridley, is a strong young female scavenger stranded on the planet of Jakku who stumbles into the crazy world of fighting between the First Order and the resistance. She teams up with a fallen stormtrooper, Finn (John Boyega), to return a droid containing secret plans vital to the resistance effort. With many twists and turns, Episode VII combines plots from “A New Hope” with new storylines to set the stage for a new generation of Star Wars.

The parallels of “A New Hope” and “The Force Awakens” are seen throughout the entire movie. In some aspects, this new movie was a carbon copy of Episode IV. The obvious parallels contain a villain fighting an inner battle of light and dark while a new jedi is coming to power. A new facet of this film contain a new perspective on the stormtroopers and shows how they are real people. Finally, introducing a female jedi shows not only a new perspective but also how our world is changing and progressing to accept females into new roles they would earlier never have been considered for.

This film is not only a great movie for the original Star Wars lovers but also for kids as they get drawn into a new generation of Star Wars. The battle of good versus evil will never rest as long as the jedis are in power and the first order are hungry for domination.

The soundtrack of the new film takes the original Star Wars sounds and adds modern takes on them. Combining the well known opening track with a new track for Rey, the heroine, everyone can enjoy the sounds. A new villain, Kylo Ren, comes with a new soundtrack taking away the ominous sounds of Darth Vader approaching, giving Kylo Ren his own unique traits.

Since this addition to the Star Wars family came so late after the original, many were skeptical about the special effects. Today special effects have come a long way since 1977.
Star Wars: The Force Awakens is a must see film for the entire family to enjoy. There is never a dull moment. This film will have you on the edge of your seats as you follow the new characters and ponder the mysteries. This will leave you wanting more. May the force be with you.
