Horan Heads Another Direction
Niall Horan introduces a new single before the start of a 2018 tour.
Former One Direction star Niall Horan released a new single “Too Much To Ask” from his first solo album Flicker Sept. 15. The single already has over four million views on YouTube, and follows previous singles “Slow Hands” and “This Town.”
Horan’s latest song describes an emotional breakup in a nostalgic way. Repeating the phrase “My shadow’s dancing without you for the first time,” Horan emphasizes the pain he felt while he wrote the lyrics. The single showcases the familiar soft side of Horan seen in “Slow Hands.”
“I liked it but it was kind of boring and all of his songs just kind of blend together,” junior Tempest Malone said.
All of the other former One Direction stars turned solo, also coming out with singles and albums. Zayn Malik was the first to start a solo career after he left he boyband in 2014. Following his bandmate, Horan released his first single “This Town” in fall of 2016. The other members quickly followed.
The single “Too Much To Ask” dropped before the start of his 2018 world tour. Horan will be performing in Kansas City Aug. 22, 2018 at Starlight Theatre. Tickets go on sale Sept. 22 and range from $37 to $107. Debuting his solo career, the album Flicker will be released Oct. 20 and include his previous singles.
“I’m expecting it to be chill concert and [my sister] and I hope we can get tickets right away,” sophomore Reilly Jackoboice said.
