Black History Month was first proposed by black educators and the Black United Students at Kent State University in 1969 and was first celebrated from Jan. 2 to Feb. 28. With the celebration continuing on for over 50 years, it is important to celebrate and support black-owned businesses in the community this month and throughout the year. With the pandemic still ravaging the country, local businesses need your help to stay above water and continue to spread their message. Here’s a list of a few businesses to safely strengthen and maintain in the community this Black History Month.
