“Wednesday”, a show that fans became obsessed with as soon as they heard about it. Netflix announced that they would be making a show about Wednesday Addams in October 2020, and released the official trailer on August 17, 2022.

The show follows Wednesday Addams (Jenna Ortega) at her new school Nevermore Academy; her parents think she’ll fit right in, but all Wednesday wants is out. Wednesday’s plans to escape Nevermore are halted when a monster starts killing students and she goes on an adventure to discover the true identity of the monster.

Ortega took several steps into becoming her character Wednesday. She learned how to go a long time without blinking; her eyes never bat unless she is displaying raw emotion. One thing the actress did was choreograph her own dance; Ortega found it exciting when director Tim Burton gave her the opportunity.

“The thing is that I am not a dancer at all and the script literally just said she dances,” Ortega said. “So I didn’t know what to do, fortunately, I really love the cramps, I love that song that Tim and I choose together. I see Fosse films and things like that so I took like little bits of inspiration from things like that.”

Wednesday Addams is a beloved character across generations, and there’s no better way to bring generations together than a cameo. The original Wednesday Addams, Christina Ricci, appears as Marilyn Thornhill, the only human teacher at Nevermore.

Right out of the gate, “Wednesday” fans took to TikTok to rave about their new favorite show. Fans took it upon themselves to make video edits of the love triangle between Wednesday Addams, Tyler Galpin (Hunter Doohan), and Xavier Thorpe (Percy Hynes White).

Fans fought over who she would be better with or who they wanted her to be with, but Ortega thinks that Wednesday shouldn’t and wouldn’t be falling for boys.

“I told them very early on that I didn’t want her to be in the middle of a love triangle,” Ortega said in an interview with “Etalk”. “ As far as the boys went, I had to accept it – but honestly, I’m going to fight this love triangle thing so hard. Because I don’t think Wednesday would ever be in a love triangle.”

One thing that fans love, including myself, is the friendship between Wednesday and Enid Sinclair (Emma Myers). It started off with Enid being welcoming and extremely nice to Wednesday, but Wednesday didn’t reciprocate the same attitude towards Enid. Like any friendship, they have bumps in the road, but they ultimately prevail.

The show was an overall success and incorporated a deeper meaning of how a person can go from being cold-hearted to finding people she would open up for. I and fans want a second season as soon as possible! So to answer your questions about if “Wednesday” is worth a watch, yes it is.
