One of the biggest movies of the summer was “Twisters.” This movie was very captivating with its very unique story about storm-chasing. This movie is even based on real events. 6 of the tornadoes they displayed were based off of real ones.
Twisters stars popular actor Glen Powell. Powell has been in movies like “Anyone But You,” “Hit Man,” “Top Gun Maverick” and even “Spy Kids 3.” In this movie, he plays storm chaser and influencer Tyler Owens. The character has amazing chemistry with Kate Cooper, the other main character. Even though this movie is not a rom-com, this romance is still a very interesting element that adds to the plot.
The movie starts off by showing a moment in Last Name’s past when she is chasing a tornado with her friends. They get stuck and all except for one of her friends Javi die. Kate’s demeanor changes before and after the incident, which really hooks the viewer from the beginning.
Twisters was very good at keeping the viewer engaged throughout the movie. There were a lot of moments where it was questionable whether they would make it out of a situation. There was never an off moment. It was always captivating
“Twisters” also has great visuals and set design. The CGI is really good and makes the movie very visually interesting. It was filmed in Oklahoma, which made it very true to the story, like in the first scene where they are driving across the open road. The costume design was also very true to the area.
The movie had a record-breaking $80.5 million of revenue after the first weekend in theaters, according to The Hollywood Reporter. Now it has reached $366.9 million. That number will continue to grow because the movie is still currently in theatres.
This movie is very popular but for a reason. It perfectly balances the science aspect of it while also being very engaging. It makes you feel like you’re on the edge of your seat, not knowing what will happen next.
