In the past month that you have spent lying on the beach over spring break, studying for your Spanish exam, and stressing over your prom dress, 43 children were abducted from their beds at night and forced to join the LRA (Lords Resistance Army) led by Joseph Kony. Kony is a man leading an army of children who he kidnapped at night and forced them to kill their own parents. His army has grown rapidly, and since December of 2009, there have been 2,328 abductions. Jason Russell, Invisible Children founder, had seen enough, he started a video titled Stop Kony 2012. This 30 minute video goes in depth about Kony and his tactics, and Russell explains his solution: make Kony famous. The video grew rapidly and has gained about 50 million views in only a matter of weeks. Many Sion girls were inspired by the Kony video and Russell’s story. Here are their thoughts…
