The Cat in the Hat, played by Junior Aree Tomes, is surrounded by Fish in Act 1 of Seussical at the final rehearsal.

Senior Randy Willnauer, who plays General Genghis Kahn Schmitz, has had previous acting experience in the Rockhurst High School theater program. Seussical was his first Sion production.

Senior Anna Redmond’s character Jojo sits in the background as Horton the Elephant, played by junior Colin Rohach, sings his part of “It’s Possible.”

Olivia Neal, who plays Mayzie La Bird, has had previous acting experiences outside of the other two Sion musicals she has participated in. In New York City, she attended both Boston University’s Theater Conservatory as well as The Stella Adler Acting Conservatory.

Juniors Olivia Neal and Colin Rohach played Mayzie La Bird and Horton the Elephant. Horton ends up replacing Mayzie on top of the tree and remaining there until the end of the musical.

In the final scene of Seussical, Juniors Lena Kincaid and Colin Rohach as Gertrude McFuzz and Horton The Elephant sing next to fourth grader Makayla Herbert, who made her appearance in the end as the Elephant Bird.

After smiling for what seemed like 15 minutes straight for multiple photographers, the official cast picture is finally taken. The front row includes senior Lena Kincaid, junior Elizabeth Arroyo, senior Anna Redmond, and Juniors Aree Tomes and Aneliese Peeler.

Junior Joseph Sizemore, who played the Grinch, attempts to instill fear in the surrounding Whos. He said his favorite moment in the show was telling the Whos how he stole Christmas.

The opening scene of Seussical is anticipated with a single hat in the middle of the stage.
