Camouflage and bright orange as far as the eye can see. Beards cover the faces of most people seen. Green and brown everywhere.  No, this isn’t the Louisiana woods, it’s Sion’s Fall Dance.  The theme: Duck Dynasty.

“The theme was really fun because ‘Duck Dynasty’ is one of my favorite shows,” junior Courtney Linscott said.

Many girls showed their spirit for the theme by donning long beards like the “Duck Dynasty” men. Other costumes included camouflage from head to toe, orange reflector wear, cowboy boots, and any kind of “Duck Dynasty” regalia. Some students even went so far as to bring a duck call.

“Everyone seemed to really like the theme,” Spanish teacher April Schendel said. “Everyone seemed to be having a good time.”

Rockhurst junior Paul Freeman said that there was a good ratio of boys to girls this year so that made it more fun than previous years.

And Linscott said that an array of music was played at the dance, adding to the energy of the dance. From the Backstreet Boys to Icona Pop, everyone’s music preferences were covered in some way.  Everyone got out on the dance floor at one point or another, and many stayed there all night.

“I had so much fun dancing,” Linscott said. “I was tired and sweaty by the end of the dance.”
