Students and Mothers Gather for Luncheon
The annual event was held Sunday, Sept. 15.
Students and their mothers gathered at the Sheraton Overland Park Hotel for the annual Mother-Daughter Luncheon and fashion show Sunday, Sept. 15. The event consisted of shopping at local boutiques, professional photographs, lunch and a fashion show from seniors and their mothers.
“I think the luncheon is a nice opportunity for moms and daughters to have a nice time to spend together and do something they enjoy,” principal Natalie McDonough said. “It’s also nice that we get to recognize our seniors and their moms in a special way.”
Attendees began the morning with shopping from various boutiques set up outside of the ballroom. The boutiques included Addie Rose Boutique, Amelia’s Boutique, Finefolk, Frankie and Jules, Lady Bye, Coco Brookside, Kate’s KC, Lilly Pullitzer, Scout and Molly, Standard Style, Lover Cosmetics and the school’s very own Sion Shoppe. Numerous seniors and their mothers modeled pieces of clothing from these boutiques. Senior Olivia Townsend and her mom Kris Townsend were one of the mother-daughter duos, modeling for Addie Rose Boutique.
“It was super fun and a great bonding experience for my mom and me,” Townsend said. “We both got to be goofy and just have a good time with it. It was a great memory that I know we will both cherish forever.”
Friends and their mothers were able to spend time bonding and getting to know each other better. Students were able to forget the stress of the week ahead and had a chance to relax with their moms. Everyone was able to just sit down and enjoy each other’s company, according to junior Megan Aldaco.
“I enjoyed being able to just sit down with my mom, my friends and their moms,” Aldaco said. “I was able to just be in the moment and spend time having fun bonding with my mom.”
