On Aug 24 former US President Donald J. Trump turned himself in to Fulton County jail on multiple felony charges tied to his involvement in Georgia during the 2020 presidential election.
Trump’s mugshot and fingerprints were taken, and he was out on a $200,000 bond within 20 minutes of him entering the jail.
“What has taken place here is a travesty of justice,” Trump told multiple reporters before boarding his jet out of Atlanta.
This isn’t the only instance that Trump has been indicted this summer. He is currently facing 3 other indictments in the following areas: New York, Florida, and Washington D.C. All for different crimes.
In New York, he is indicted on “34 felony accounts in connection to hush money payments” according to Politico Staff. He allegedly used business accounts to pay off an entertainer, in order to avoid a sex scandal during the 2016 election cycle breaking New York state’s business laws.
While this would normally be a misdemeanor charge, it evolved into felony charges due to the falsified records which were created to dodge a separate crime.
As of now, this case is only in the indictment stage.
In Florida, he faces 32 felony counts of willful retention of national defense information, 6 counts of “obstruction-related crimes”, and 2 counts of false statements.
Trump is alleged to have had multiple classified documents detailing specific military plans in his Mar-a-Lago house. According to Politico, these documents were “ haphazardly throughout” his home. He is also alleged to have shared these documents with people who were unauthorized to view them, one instance of this being recorded.
This case is also only in the indictment stage.
In Georgia he is faced with the following: 1 count of Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations (RICO), 3 counts of solicitation of violation of oath by public officer, 1 count of conspiracy to commit impersonating a public officer, 2 counts of conspiracy to commit forgery in the first degree, 2 counts of false statements and writings, 2 counts of conspiracy to commit false statement and writings, 1 count of filing false documents, and finally, 1 count of conspiracy to commit filing false documents.
This court case stems from Trump’s alleged involvement in attempting to overturn his 2020 election loss. In Georgia, Trump and many of his followers allegedly attempted to persuade polling staff to commit voter fraud and spread lies about voter fraud being committed on President Joseph Biden’s side.
In Washington D.C. Trump is indicted on 2 felony counts of obstruction of an official proceeding, 1 felony count of conspiracy to defraud the United States, and 1 felony count of conspiracy against rights.
This case comes from the insurrection of the Capitol building on Jan 6, 2021, following his loss in the election. That was the day Biden was being signed into office by Congress and hundreds of people stormed the building. Trump’s involvement is said to be from a statement he made on live television. All information outlining charges is from Politico.
Currently, all of this information is alleged, as no convictions have been made. This is an ongoing story.
