Sion Senior Assassins
Beginning April 1 the class of 2024 started the annual senior assassins game. A common tradition among high school seniors is to play a class game of assassins, sometimes called gotcha. This year the game is run by senior Claire Boma and Kate Peters and an instagram account has been created to keep track of game progress.Â
The way assassins work is anyone who desires to play must pay an entry fee of 10 dollars, the participants then each receive a target who they must “assassinate” with a water gun. Failure to assassinate the target leads to elimination, and if someone gets “assassinated” they are also eliminated. After being eliminated you are able to buy back into the game within 24 hours. If someone “assassinated” their target then their target’s target becomes the person’s new target.
There are however certain rules when it comes to getting a target. This includes no playing inside the school building, the Sion parking lot is off limits within 30 minutes of the beginning or end of the school day, you can not get someone while they are working, at a game or practice, or engaged in an extracurricular.
Each week participants will receive a new target and the game will continue until there are three or less players remaining or the school year ends.Â

Wasting no time senior Ellie Henson targets senior Sarah Lillis on senior skip day April 2. Lillis had previously shared her phones location with Henson and never stopped sharing her location allowing Henson to track Lillis to senior Natalie Stapp’s house. Jumping over the garage door sensor Henson ran over the car and opened the first door she could which happened to be her target Lillis resulting in Lillis being the first out.
After their soccer practice together on April 2 senior Ava Townsend quickly targets senior Lauryn Murphy. Murphy tried to run and hide behind soccer coach Doug Mclagan but was unsuccessful, making her the second person to be eliminated.
Senior Caroline Hammett exited Sion’s play rehearsal April 2 and walked to her car unaware of her shadow. Senior Livvy Cavaliere followed close behind ready to eliminate Hammett as soon as she was in the parking lot. While there was some debate on whether Hammett won immunity by getting Cavaliere first, video evidence was not clear enough to rule in Hammett’s favor, giving Cavaliere the victory.
Waiting outside senior Grace Lockett’s home for over an hour, senior Emerson Shelton’s patience is rewarded by eliminating her target after school April 3.
