The Best Days of our Lives
As a senior coming back from spring break, I now realize how precious time is. All four years of high school I had been looking forward to my week in Playa del Carmen with all of my best friends and now that week is over.
Yes, I can say that week was literally the greatest week of my life, but it doesn’t turn back that time. Now those days in the sun are only mere memories.
But instead of dreading going back to school each day I think that seniors including myself should cherish their time they have with their high school friends because there is little time left. Some of these girls I may never see again or won’t see them again until a five, 10, 30 year class reunion. I don’t want to be “that” girl that quits but to finish the year strong still allowing myself to enjoy every moment.
Sitting in the school’s chapel the morning of Tuesday March 25, senior Michelle King answered head of school Christina Broderick’s question of how many school days do you as seniors have?
“26 days is all,” King said.
Oos and ahhs filled the room after a moment of silence. Whispers and sighs left various girls’ mouths in a surprised manner.
That number is becoming a reality to many girls.
When social studies teacher Jennifer Brown-Howerton announced that our Emily Hart graduation dresses had finally arrived, many whoops and hollers filled the room.
When senior Samantha Ruiz posted on our class of 2014 Facebook page that the long awaited game of Assassins would be starting April 7 right after school, many girls including StuCo class president Moira Quinn had things to say.
“This is beautiful,” Quinn said.
It is evident each day walking down the hallways that most if not all seniors are winding down. The excitement shows in conversations held about senior skip day, assassins, camp outs, graduation and much much more.
It has truly been an honor to be a part of such an amazing class. The class of 2014 is unlike any other and I will forever miss these times spent with all of them. Let’s make these next couple weeks count!
