Remember when developing a photograph was a long drawn out process? Where the photographer would have to “fix” the photographs on sheets of silver-plated copper and cover them creating a surface that was sensitive to light. After those eight hours, the photograph would be ready.

No longer do consumers have to sit and wait for their pictures to come to life. They are now able to print, post and share photos instantly with the new instant digital camera better known as the Polaroid Socialmatic Camera. This camera has new features that include the different lenses that help create the vintage look as well as the modern look. It has a wide range of photo-editing apps that can be used to enhance the imagery.

This camera also conveniently connects to major social media networks using built in Wi-Fi and the Android interface. Although this Wi-Fi isn’t immediately available, the camera was easily built to pair with the consumers smartphone through bluetooth.

The Polaroid Socialmatic camera will give its consumers the choice of either using the 14 megapixel front-side camera or the 2 megapixel rear-side camera. This feature makes the “instant sharing” come to life virtually anywhere.

“It makes the whole photography world that much easier,” senior Sara Dalton said.

Senior Lauren Trippel believes this new camera is a lot more convenient than past inventions. No need to make a stop at a CVS or local Walmart store to pick up a stack of photos.

More features include the 4.5” touchscreen LCD display for easy navigation, the LED flash used for great images and for storing pictures, the camera comes with a Micro SD card or the cameras 4GB of internal storage.

The Polaroid Socialmatic camera was first put on display at the International Consumer Electronic show in early 2014.

“Polaroid is coming back as a trendy new way to document memories,” senior Dana Routh said.
