7 Brew is a coffee chain based in Arkansas that opened in 2017 by Ron Crume. The name comes from the franchise’s humble beginning of only 7 coffee choices. One of the major goals of the business is to “cultivate kindness” as written on some of their cups. The 7 Brew I frequent is on Metcalf and 151st. Three things I love about the spot are the service, the rewards, and, of course, the coffee. The workers always start a conversation with you, and I have gotten to know some of the them very well. I have met two of the franchisees, and they shared their goal for their employees to be social as well as speedy.
The rewards program is a major positive about 7 Brew. They often text great promos like triple rewards or free drink cards on KU game days. In addition, with every purchase you get points, and once you reach 10,000 you get a free drink. These points accumulate very quickly and give you free pick-me-ups.
The first drink I reviewed was the hot “Cinnamon Roll” coffee. This is white chocolate with brown sugar cinnamon breve, a breve is espresso with steamed half and half giving a richer taste. This drink is for people who love sweeter coffee, and because it is a breve it is slightly richer than a typical latte. The flavor tastes very similar to a real cinnamon roll, but the white chocolate makes the drink richer and creamier. This is one of my favorites for cold days.
The next drink I tried was the new iced “Sweet & Salty” coffee. This has a very complex flavor profile to it. It’s slightly less sweet than that of the cinnamon roll and has a much different taste. The drink itself is a salted caramel base with white chocolate breve. The salted caramel has a really great taste and the white chocolate makes it different from other caramel-based lattes. This one did have a little syrup unmixed in the bottom which made it too sweet towards the end.
I then tried the iced “Blondie.” This is a caramel and vanilla breve which is less sweet than the others. The taste is very similar to the “Sweet & Salty” but the vanilla makes it a little less flavor-filled and a bit milkier. This is one of my favorites and I highly recommend trying it out if you like subtle caramel coffees.
The last drink I tried was the “Blue Raspberry” Seven Energy. This is one of the many flavors you can choose from for the company’s popular Seven Energy base. This tastes similar to a slushy but contains some caffeine to resemble an energy drink. It is a very refreshing drink and has some serious caffeine power.
