Superbowl XLVIII Play by Play

Since my infatuation with soccer began in 2011, I’ve also tried to become more open to other sports. One of my pet peeves are fans who only love one sport and are completely unwilling to even listen about anything that doesn’t involve their beloved team. To avoid this stereotype, I have slowly been learning the rudiments of other sports.

Right now it’s Sunday, February 2 at 4:53pm, and I will be documenting my thoughts on the XLVIII Super Bowl between the Seattle Seahawks and Denver Broncos.

5:37 – Arrive at my friends house, thought the game started at 5:45, started at 5:30, miss kickoff and the Seahawks safety.

2-0 Seattle

5:43 – I have aquired a 56 ounce bag of M&Ms, Maserati commercial was disappointing.

5:46 – Seattle just challenged something then scored a field goal.

5-0 Seattle

5:50 -Seattle Seahawk Ricardo Lockette just unecesarily decked a guy, my cousin who plays for the Broncos has made an appearance.

5:52 – The one guy from Breaking Bad (Aaron Paul??) is in a new movie that comes out on Pi Day!

6:04 – Seattle isn’t scoring and I’m not sure why not.

6:05 – Ellen Degeneres is in a commercial with wolves.

6:06 – Seattle looks like there was a touchdown but Denver Bronco Nate Irving  wouldn’t allow it; they scored a field goal anyway.

8-0

6:10 – Seattle Seahawk Earl Thomas’ “Sounds of the Game” are getting me pumped up. He yells a lot.

6:13 – Cheerios commercial made me rethink why I didn’t demand a puppy for every younger sibling I have.

6:18 – 2nd quarter has begun

6:21 – Denver ruined another Seattle touchdown opportunity but got flagged for it this time; Seattle recovers and scores from the one yard line.

6:23 – Field goal is good

15-0 Seattle

6:39 – Get back from collecting snacks to see the interception and 69 yard run by the Seahawk’s Malcolm Smith.

22-0 Seattle

6:47 – Two minute warning; my friend, Rockhurst junior Drew Porter, just drew a picture of fellow junior Lauren Groszek and me.

I’m on the left, documenting the game, Groszek is on the right, taking pictures.

7:04 – Halftime. Just watched the video of the world’s tallest waterslide in Kansas City, Kan.; Bruno Mars is about to perform

7:06 – Update on the M&M’s: We’ve made quite a dent in the 56 ounce bag, only halftime.

7:11 – Bruno Mars kicks off halftime with rocking drum solo.

7:15 – I’ve never heard any of these songs; waiting for “Just The Way You Are” #classic.

7:19 – HE’S PLAYING JUST THE WAY YOU ARE GUYS! REMEMBER WHEN RADIO STATIONS REFUSED TO STOP PLAYING THIS SONG?

7:33 – Another Seattle touchdown; I’m actually starting to feel bad for the Broncos. Could you imagine their halftime pump up talk, then that happens? Oh man.

29-0 Seattle

7:38 – Peyton Manning just looks so sad.

7:48 – Seahawks are winning; I’ve lost interest. Just had a quick piano sing along break and now people are helping me with my trigonometry homework.

7:58 – All my friends and I hugged each other because Bruce Willis told us to. Still not sure what that was a commercial for.

8:03 – Another Seahawks touchdown. I’ve become fully occupied with my trigonometry homework.

36-0 Seattle

8:11 – Touchdown Denver! Peyton Manning’s 23 yard pass is good for the Bronco’s first and possibly only touchdown of the game. Two point conversion is good.

36-8 Seattle

8:26 – I didn’t realize how late it’s gotten. Denver just received the ball. This will be a rough 11:38 minutes for the Broncos.

8:43 – The Super Bowl trophy is out and practically in Seattle’s hands.

8:50 – Two minute warning, but this game has been over for a while.

8:51 – Thing’s I’ve learned today: Denver is not playing well and puppies and clydesdales are friends.

8:52 – A small child just rode a Mastiff in a Doritos commercial. I don’t know how to react to that.

8:55 – Game over. I missed a touchdown somewhere. Final score 43-8.

Seattle Seahawks are your XLVII Super Bowl Champions!
