The JV and Varsity Volleyball teams played their second home game against Rock Bridge High School Wednesday. The games ended in a loss for JV and a win for Varsity.

The game started out rough for the JV team. Within the first five minutes of the game, Rock Bridge had a 6-1 lead over Sion. Sion quickly caught up, and managed to gain a few points on Rock Bridge, but struggled to maintain their lead, a theme that would continue throughout the game.

Rock Bridge was able to quickly gain the lead even after losing a few points to Sion. Rock Bridge ended up winning the first game by a small margin. At the beginning of the second game, Sion was leading, but the game remained tense, as the lead went back and forth between both teams. Sion took the win in the second game, and a tie game was played to 15 points. Rock Bridge won the tie, making them the winners overall.

The varsity game began the same way as the JV game, with Rock Bridge quickly gaining the lead. Sion caught up however with an impressive spike from senior Lauren Dwyer.

Sion won the first game by one point after Dwyer again scored an impressive point. In the beginning of the second game, Rock Bridge had the lead, though Sion gained on them eventually. And Sion managed to win the second game as well. Highlights of this game were Dwyer’s ability to consistently score, as well as some impressive point-gaining sets from other players.

The final score was 2-0 for varsity and 1-2 for JV.
