Bags of Fun Game Results in More Than One Victory
Volleyball defeated Raymore-Peculiar at the Blackout For Pediatric Cancer game benefitting Bags of Fun.

Varsity volleyball defeated Ray-Pec at home in two sets Sept. 21. The scores of the two sets were 25-12 and 25-19. A highlight from the game included senior Kathleen Tushaus’ four aces.
In addition to the game, seniors Allie Weinrich, Lauren Ismert, and Ella Anstoetter did their senior service project for Bags of Fun KC, an organization brought to the Kansas City area by Weinrich’s mother, Louisa, to bring light to children’s days who live with cancer.
“It started in Denver, Colorado by my mom’s family friend and roommate in college whose daughter passed away from cancer when she was five,” Weinrich said. “Her last wish was that every kid in the hospital had a bag of fun, so that’s where it got started.”
Bags of Fun raised almost $2500 for their foundation over the T-shirt revenue. In addition to the blackout game, Weinrich, Ismert and Anstoetter personally delivered bags full of toys to children in Children’s Mercy Hospital over the past few weeks.
“Delivering toys to the hospital with Bags of Fun KC has left me with more joy and understanding than I ever would have anticipated,” Ismert said. “It truly means to so much to the kids and any moment of happiness for them holds such value and warmth.”
The T-shirts were worn before the game by both teams. The shirts were sold throughout the week leading up to the game, according to Weinrich.
In addition, the dance team performed before varsity warm ups. They performed their pom routine which they will dance at the Rockhurst soccer game on Friday, Sept. 21.
