Unbound
Unbound Club was founded by juniors Surriya Quddus and Morgan Michaelis with club sponsor and religion teacher Paul Kramchuster. Their idea took off during Deep Dives in the spring of 2024 when the students in the Unbound Deep Dive decided to sponsor two kids from South America.
“Unbound is an international sponsorship program where people from the United States can sponsor a child. By sponsoring them, it’s about $40 a month. What you provide for that child is education, food, housing and clothing. So all of this stuff sort of comes with that sponsorship” said Kram.
Unbound club will continue to sponsor the two kids from South America. They will fundraise for them in order to continue that and will continue to work through the Unbound organization.
Les Femmes Florales
Les Femmes Florales was founded by sophomores Grace Goforth and Luella Mook with the mission to create floral arrangements and donate them to women’s shelters, hospitals and hospice care facilities. Their biggest goal is to eventually create a cut flower garden, meaning they will be able to use their own flowers to create flower arrangements. In order to do that they would have to build a box, sow the seeds and do other gardening work to get that in progress.
“I’d say the cut flower garden is the biggest goal and maybe the least achievable one, but we’re going to try. It’s going to be a lot of work,” Mook said.
They also came up with an intriguing name for their club. It’s very official and charming that they are using a french name. Especially with Sion being a French originated school it connects it to the school more.
“We tried a lot of different names,” Goforth said. “We even tried using a name generator but we didn’t end up using any of those because they were pretty weird. So Ms. McNair suggested a French name, so that’s how we came to that idea. We almost called it Botanical Bosses.”
