Guatemala

Twenty-nine girls left the Kansas City Airport on Saturday Mar. 15 searching for new experiences, new relationships, and new outlooks. They didn’t have expectations just excitement for what the next seven days would bring.

These days brought laughter, prayer, sickness, and memories from  the community in San Andres Itzapa, Guatemala that will stay with the 29 girls for the rest of their lives.

The mission trip, which is through Saint Thomas More Parish, goes to San Andres Itzapa annually. Though there are multiple voyages down to Guatemala per year, the trip during spring break is specifically reserved for Sion students. Along with the 29 girls, five chaperones including  college counselor Erin Stein went on the trip as well.

Senior Kristine Sullivan who was one of the 29 to go on the trip during spring break said, “This time was different than last year, but different in a good way. It was a great experience that I will never forget.”
