Senior Tailgate Makes Spirits Soar
Students gather to celebrate their last first day of high school.
Following tradition, the senior class gathered in the senior parking lot Wednesday morning, Aug. 17 to celebrate their last first day of high school with lively music, good food, about a hundred students and a few observant staff members.
The event started at 7 a.m. with tables set up as the class arrived bearing breakfast food items. Although the senior tailgate is a breakfast it is more accurately described as a pep rally for the coming year.
The festivities were centered around two folding tables, one for food and the other for games, and a large speaker playing music. While the scene had all the elements for a rowdy tailgate, the early morning setting created a much more laid back environment.
“I’ve never felt better, I’m so excited for senior year,” senior Angela Neunenbel said. “I know I’m just going to have the time of my life.”
Senior Paige Behnken excitedly participated in the games and socializing as she finished her breakfast, focused on her friends and the festivities.
“This makes me excited because senior year you have a lot of extra activities so this kind of gets you pumped up for the whole year,” Behnken said.
