Under the Big Top
With a circus theme, fall dance was full of lions and tigers and bears oh my!
The circus-themed fall dance was Sept. 9 in the gym. Open to St. Teresa’s Academy, Archbishop O’Hara High School and Rockhurst High School students as well as the student body, many sported themed costumes and some even had props. From clowns and jokers to giraffes and gymnasts, the whole circus was represented.
“I liked the variety of costumes and how original people were with what they were wearing,” freshman Mary Claire Dunagan said.
Student council, who arrived at the school early to set up, had numerous decorations to transform the gym and the New Grande Salle into a circus tent. One of the bigger decorations was an inflatable circus tent that hung from the gym ceiling.
“Decorating is fun for me,” junior Sarah Totta said. “It really gets me excited for the dance.”
Seniors sported their own theme, as is tradition. It was apparent from all the red devil horns and white halos that the senior theme was Angels and Devils.
The dance lasted two hours. As people slowly trickled out, seniors were reminded that this was their very last fall dance.
“I’ve been to every fall dance so it’s really weird that it’s my last one,” senior Katie Byers said. “It makes me definitely want to cherish my last year with such an amazing group of girls.”
