The Sion community celebrated the Kansas City Chiefs as they head off to Super Bowl LVIII with a tailgate Feb 9.
While Friday fashion is typically reserved for only Sion spirit-wear, the administration made an exception for the event and allowed students to wear red or Chiefs gear to get hyped for the game on Sunday.
“We planned this because we wanted to celebrate the chiefs,” assistant vice principle Jenny Brown-Howerton said. “And it’s what we do, we have fun.”
The cafeteria staff also grilled up a special tailgate menu of hamburgers and tater-tots, and purchased specially made red hamburger buns to add a Chiefs twist to the meal.
In the Grand Sale, students could decorate and enjoy their own Chiefs themed cookies. They could also make red, white and gold friendship bracelets in celebration of singer, and Chiefs player Travis Kelce’s girlfriend, Taylor Swift, who’s concerts are notorious for their friendship bracelet swapping.
In the gym, students could grab a Super Bowl LVII hat, donated by the Chiefs in support of our new flag football team. Students also played a variety of games with a football including throwing competitions, monkey-in-the-middle and catch.
